Well it was a few weeks ago now but i’m still feeling bitter.
how i got hacked
I’m not to sure how i got hocked but it was more than likely because i hadn’t updated my version of wordpress to the latest version so someone probably got in via an Wordpress hole.
What did the little bastard do?
I first noticed something was up when my incoming traffic was looking really strange. People were coming in to the site via porn/spammy keywords in Google, this was really wierd as i have no inbound links from porn sites that i know of.
I viewed the source of the home page and there it was. A div tag had been put on the footer of each page, the contents of the div was links to porn websites and placed to the far right of the site off the page so people couldn’t see the links, just engines.
Obviously i removed the div tag but i’ve lost all traffic and ranks i had on Google, great thaks alot you little toss pot who did this. But dont worry i will bounce back, i’ve been working on some other website projects but ill get back to writing regular content once i get the status of my sites sorted.

How many and more importantly what sites are on the same IP as your site? Most tools out there only show you a small fraction on sites on your IP, and charge extra to see the rest. I’m going to share you one of the SEO tools I use a lot. The tool i’m about to show you can tell you a lot about your site and websites linking to yours. There is even a rough method of indicating what types of links you need to get in order to rank higher than your competition.
First of all I’ll go through the IP tool. located at IP Checker This will list all websites hosted on the same IP as your website for free. So don’t pay to use similar tools use link vendor.

I’m writing this after having a good read on various different blogs around the internet as a catchup really as I haven’t been reading much these past few weeks.
Why Top Blogs Are Crap
I was really dissapointed with content produced by many “top bloggers” which was a waste of time I won’t name names unless you want me to, but i’m sure you can work out which are rubbish yourselves!
I think they are crap as they trade on reputation, so are less willing to try new strategies and ideas, think of new ways to get on top of the search engines and are generally less innovative! They also have loads of wannabe’s kissing their ass all the time hoping that they will teach them a magic way to make money. The time that it takes you to read all of your RSS feeds you could have written some quality content for your site, or setup a new project.
Top bloggers will not share techniques that make them the most money as everyone will be doing it. If you want some proper advice try going to some smaller blogs that are more likely to provide some useful ways of making money.
One of the best articles I read was done by Court on Keyword Sniping check it out. Once you have read the article don’t think that was a good article then go and read another blog or article. Buy a domain and impliment the knowledge you have learn’t, to many people spend far to much time reading and not enough time doing.

Interesting article - gampay.com/index.php/Latest/Online-gaming-affiliates-earn-$684-million-in-2007.html on the site that shows how much money online gambling affiliates are earning. Maybe I should add some banners to my site…..

No automatic sign up. I was hoping to experiment with Beacon on a site that I’m launching in January. Anyone signed up with Beacon yet? Seems like a helluva awesome traffic source if you have site users with a lot of connections and something that’s kinda socially worthy.
I was also thinking about linking Beacon with a survey site that I built for myspace about 3 years ago.
Anyways. Anyone play around with this yet? What do the facebookers want in return for getting to implement Beacon?

I came accross this ad network and low and behold i see top earners of the previous month
1st position: 120,047.00 :eek::eek::eek:
WTF!
2nd position was far behind. around almost 20k / month.
Now that dude who is making 1.5 mills a year. I wonder how much money he has to PUT IN into advertising to pull out 120k of profits.
I also wonder how much management overhead he has to make sure everything runs smoothly and he stops campaigns that turn unprofitable quickly. Do these guys hire people? ( must not be easy, as soon as said employee see how much money the guy is making and by then he knows how, they’ll leave )
Anyways, it made me think.

Hey guys,
Directories exists for like 20 years already, and they used to counk for link juice.
Is it still true as of 2008? Does submitting to directories still boost you in the SERPS? or is it only really used for the miniscule direct traffic?
Also, let’s say if I have like 100 keywords, and each keywords has like 5 anchor text in them, does that mean I have to do 500 different SUBMISSIONS to those 2000 direcories???! Can you say SPAM?!
Anyway those are my 2 questions. Please give me some insights!
A lot of peeps says that directory submissions are WAY overrated..

Hey guys, let’s say I copyrighted and trademarked the
yeah.com - Only the best links … domain, and someone a year later got the
foo.net and do some shit in it to compete with my mainstream ecommerce area, can I hire some lawyers to grab the domain name to myself?
The guy’s been getting good traffic from that, so I don’t really want him to do that anymore…
