How To Use An ISO File And Write It To CD/DVD
May 3rd, 2007 by Martin
An ISO file is an image of a whole CD and is compressed, usually used when downloading big files off the internet. (I wonder how many people are reading this trying to find out what to do after downloading a game off the internet
)
There are a few ways in which to get to the files in the ISO file to CD, DVD or your hard drive.
One of the easiest programs to use is called alcohol 120%. When you have this program open it up then click on burn an image. Select the ISO or .bin file then click burn, simple.
I get see you digging around for a DVD to burn your new game, but wait! If you don’t want to use a DVD then don’t worry there are a few options. In Alcohol 120% again on the options box on the left, click on virtual drive, when the new window opens it will say number of virtual drives at the top, change that to 1. Open up my computer then right click on the new DVD drive you have just created, then go to mount image, select your .bin or ISO file then it will mount the image and you can install/play the game straight from your hard drive.
If you don’t want to dust down the wallet and buy a copy of Alcohol 120% or download it illegally there is a free alternative! It’s called ISO Recorder Power Toy, this is how it works:
-
Download the ISO CD image to a folder on your computer.
-
Insert a blank CD in your CD-RW drive.
-
Start Windows Explorer.
-
Locate the ISO file, right-click the file name, and then click Copy image to CD to open the ISO Recorder Wizard.
Follow the steps in the wizard to write the image to the CD.
Another alternate method:
You can also right-click your CD-R drive and choose Copy Image to CD.
In the new window browse to the ISO file and click Next.
You can burn images in Nero, but I don’t use this so don’t know the burning of ISO process, but can’t imagine it being to much different from the directions just described.
