I know what your thinking. No It’s not, it’s the Bugatti Veyron! But, your wrong and I’m right. Not only is the Ultima GTR faster and cheaper than the Bugatti Veyron, you can build one yourself! Thats because, it’s a kitcar.Let me put it in perspective. You can own the fastest car in the world not for the Bugatti price tag of a touch under 900k. But for sensible and realistic price of 30k - 50k you can own a Ultima.Now for some facts, these are comparisons of some of te fastest cars on the planet:
As you can see these are absolutely mind blowing speeds. The Ultima is the only one that is possibly in reach for the average person. So if you have a spare 50k go and buy one!

Crikey Ed, You are obviously an educated person with your well constructed comment with facts to back up your argument. If you can find stats at a reliable resource that backs up what you are saying then fair play. Well the fact is he’s right. I thought that every car buff would know the Veyrons acceleration stats? 0-60 mph is 2.4 seconds and 0-62 mph (or 100 km/h) is done in 2.5 seconds. Either way, the stats on the Ultima website are wrong. A Murcielago accelerates faster than that as well.

Where are you getting your stats from? If it’s a reliable source then I’ll ring up Ultima and tell them to sort out their stats. Can’t say fairer than that!

Everyone knows the million dollar Bugatti Veryon is the fastest car in the world. But as of today Bugatti no longer will hold the title as the world’s fastest car, as Barabus officially announced the new Barabus TKR. What’s under the roof? It’s an overwhelming 1005 horsepower car with Zero to 60 mph in just 1.67 freaking seconds! I wonder how it feels sitting in a car that has a top speed of 270 mph which is 20 mph more than Veryon. According to Leftlanenews, the car will be made in Italy. Barabus TKR will be available to the market with the price of USD500,000.

Hi Jay, I agree these car are special. Ultima are a UK based company so you would more than likely have to ship one over from here? Visit the site for more info http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/gtr/ There was an Ultima on sale at ebay.co.uk for 38k (pounds) but has ended now. Thats one option to look at for a fully built one. You can always check out kit car magazines if you get them in USA?

1st of all, the Bugatti Veyron WAS the fastest PRODUCTION car (@253), not the fastest street legal car. It was just beaten by the SSC Ultimate Aero TT as the fastest priduction car @255 (assuming ssc meets their production goal) The Brabus’s top speed is theroetical, and not proven.
The fastest street legal car changes almost every year at the salt flats.
The Bugatti is the quickest Production Car from 0-60, But there are Street legal bracket drag racers that can do 0-62 in under 1 second.
The Ultima blows away the Veyron in 0-100-0 because the Veyron is so heavy. The ultima also holds the world record for skidpad G’s on street tires. (Read: it is the best handling)
The Ultima is an amazing car, but it is not a “production car.” A Manufacturer must make 100 road ready cars in one year to be “production.”
It would cost about $80k to make one in GTR 720 trim, which is a tenth of the cost of any supercar that could hold a candle to it.
THAT KIT CAR IS A PIECE OF CRAP. Why have a fast car that looks that ugly,would you been seen driving it?

Taylor, I dont know how much the record breaking Ultima cost to make, but you can get one not that much slower for 30k-50k (Pounds £)
I myself am in love with the Factory Five GTM.
Its Basicly an Ultima’s layout, specs and drivetrain.
But with power windows and a sexier look.
BUT I will admit the Ultima is by far a better RACER.
Honestly if the ultima were alive it wouldnt give a fuck what you thought of its looks. Because its that way for downforce and weight centralization.
I HATE to admit it…..but the GTR is one of the best road legal cars in the world.
The average cost to build an Ultima right is $50k-$70k.

Guys stop swearing, the babbarus TKR is 270 mph and is a legal road car, so it is the fastest. And remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So tell me if looks matter to you so much that you forget the important thing? The speed. And no amount of Grammar vialation or incorrent speech, that comes from the gutter, is going to change that.
The Bugatti Veyron is the world’s fastest STREETLEGAL car. That is the key word in it.
First of all the Corvette Zo6 twin turbo has a 0-60 time of 2.o seconds. If your Ultima is faster where is that .6 secs?
matt the porsche gt1 (254mph) is faster than the veyron, and yes it is street legal. And for your information, the barbarus is street legal, and faster than the porsche gt1 by 16mph.Therefore is the fastest and to alan. the fastest car inthe world would not cost 30k-50k.

Ultima GTR is the fastest 0-100mph-0 production car (street legal, running on street tires) in the world. Not sure if the Barbarus top speed has been proven or just claimed numbers, but last time I’ve read it was claimed. But one thing’s for sure, for that price, I rather own an Ultima GTR, and use the left over money to buy a house. Another thing, that Barbarus 1.6 or 1.5 seconds 0-60mph has to be running on slicks. There’s no way in hell it can achieve those numbers on street tires.
To Darin, how fast does your beloved GTR go at top speed and thats your problem to solve if you don’t believe that the Babbarus’s acheevements are correct, not mine. Maybe you should attain better information, and I was right all along.
A factory Ultima GTR has been tested up to 205mph. A non-standard Ultima GTR has done 230mph. But the point I was trying to make, the GTR is the fastest 0-100mph-0 production car (street legal) in the world. Base on the stats above, it looks like Martin was referring to the fastest 0-100mph-0 and not by top speed.
I was talking about its acheivement about how it can in 1.67 seconds get to 60 mph, and it does actually go at 270 mph. So we’ve both misunderstood eath other , however , if you look at the very top of the page martin made a sign saying “the fastest car in the world- The Ultima GTR. And for that reason you are incorrect. Sorry mate hate to argue.
This is meant to be an unbiased statement. Any one can post anything on the internet, fact or fiction. There is no use in arguing each other’s sources. Though I will say, after reading blogs on the Bugatti Veyron, it’s quite impressive. It’s just priced so high for the name and all the luxury features they offer. It’s not simply the idea of ‘fastest prodution car’. I’d get one, only if I had a couple million to burn. Litterally, 7mpg, ouch! Then again if you had the money to get one you wouldn’t really care.

wow you really do know about cars, NOT! sure an Ultima will get up to 60 mph faster than a Veyron by 0.1 of a second, but the Veyron can do 251 mph. the ultima can only do about 205. having said that, the Ultima is awesome
The Veyron is better looking and more refined than the Ultima GTR but it is exessive in almost every aspect, from it’s full leather interior,monsterous quad turbo w16, to it’s dosen or so radiators its all to much. I think that the Ultima GTR has proven that some times less is more.
The veyron is an amazing car yes.. But average joe isn’t going to have a house worth as much as that let alone be able to consider buying one…
Go on youtube and type in ultima GTR top gear, and watch it beat all of the times set.
It beats the zonda by 6 seconds and the coni by 5 seconds.
Blistering lap time of 1:12 seconds the fastest time ever.
The car rocks and you get to build it.. So the plus side.. its affordable.. fast as hell.. and you can be proud you made it when you listen to the rumble of the 7 litre engine opens up .

The Ultima GTR destoryed the Bugatti Veyron in the 0-100-0mph comp, and hes right on most of his statitics. When a manufacturer publishes a 0-60mph time they publish it under the average time it goes to 0-60mph, in other words, they will do numerous 0-60 runs and calculate the average, sure the Bugatti can do 0-60mph in 2.5s but the average is 2.8s, you have to have perfect shift timing, tires got to be warm to have maximum grip. However the Ultima GTR is faster in acceleration averagly, and is a lot cheaper. And Bugatti is no longer the fastest car, the Aero Ultima SSC beat the record by 3mph. And yes the new Barabus TKR will be the fastest car in the world!
The Ultima GTR is a simply awesome piece of machinery. It shows what can be acheived when raw engineering know how is put a head of marketing. Engineered by Lee Noble and also used as development mules by Gordon Murray when he was testing the drivetrain of a certain Mclaren F1
I watched two of them lap Knockhill with various other supercars including a Lambo Murcielago. Out of the final hairpin and up the straight they annihlated the Lambo, it was even close.
The noise of them on the track made it sound like Armageddon had arrived!
