Hey guys,

Directories exists for like 20 years already, and they used to counk for link juice.

Is it still true as of 2008? Does submitting to directories still boost you in the SERPS? or is it only really used for the miniscule direct traffic?

Also, let’s say if I have like 100 keywords, and each keywords has like 5 anchor text in them, does that mean I have to do 500 different SUBMISSIONS to those 2000 direcories???! Can you say SPAM?!

Anyway those are my 2 questions. Please give me some insights!

A lot of peeps says that directory submissions are WAY overrated..

Hey guys, let’s say I copyrighted and trademarked the yeah.com - Only the best links … domain, and someone a year later got the foo.net and do some shit in it to compete with my mainstream ecommerce area, can I hire some lawyers to grab the domain name to myself?

The guy’s been getting good traffic from that, so I don’t really want him to do that anymore…

Anyone notice anything weird this past weekend with Neverblue and its tracking? Before I go crazy I thought I would ask here.

I had some conversions this past Thursday and then Friday - today I have no conversions but I do still see impressions and then also the time average for people on the site are high so I am wondering if something isn’t being captured?

Now someone did let me know about the affiliate link and making it a better user friendly link but I haven’t mplemented that yet.

Should I let my AM look into this?

Title Tags And Keywords

Title tags are a very important part of SEO. A well constructed title tag is needed along with keyword research so you can write a title tag around keywords that can drive high amounts of traffic to your site. When you first start out on the net your not going to rank for much, if anything apart from your blog name which is a problem so you have to go after long tail terms. Thats where good keyword research comes in. Read my post on top keyword tools to find out where to find such research tools.

How important is the title tag

Instead of me talking through it on the blog I thought it would better to let you watch the video below then fire away with any questions you might have afterwards.

and everywhere that Mary went
the boys could see her thighs.
Mary had another skirt
’twas split right up the front
…But she didn’t wear that one often.

Now it goes to school with her

Said Simple Simon to the pie man

Now two of his teeth are missing.

Mary had a little lamb
Its fleece was white and wispy.
Then it caught Foot and Mouth Disease
And now it’s black and crispy.

Picking the right keywords is very important especially in blogging and marketing. Certain keywords are much harder to rank for organically than others. Usually 1 or 2 words are much harder to rank for then 3 or 4. But what are some alternatives to the competitive keywords? How can you write about the theme of the competitive keyword but include long tail keywords that are easier to rank for? Well a good start is to have a brain storm yourself. When this has been exhausted use keyword tools below to come up with some good alternative keywords. Some are paid for tools, others are free. But all should help identify trends in the market, and long tail keywords you can use that are easier to rank for. Enjoy!

I’ve been blogging for quite a few months now and have improved on how much money I have made online each month, especially during October when my earnings shot through the roof compared to previous months. The time I have put into blogging is starting to make me some decent money. One of the biggest problems I have found when blogging I finding time to write content, sometimes I can write a short post in a few minutes but most of the time posts take a lot longer so I ran a test to see how viable it is to make an automated blog and more importantly, will the posts I scrape be able to rank naturally in Google for terms? How automated is automated and more importantly can money be made from an automated blog?

First of all I needed to find a script that I could use to scrape blogs and news sites. Please note scraping other peoples content is illegal, it is there intellectual property! If you do use their content acknowledge this by stating the original author and give them a link. I found a few content scrapers or news aggregators, do some research to find others but the one I found is called WP-omatic. As the title suggests this is not just a script but a Wordpress plugin! It’s really easy to use and is a really powerful tool! You can set up a different campaigns where you can put upto 4 RSS feeds. You can also use Wordpress to setup a cron job. A cron job is used to automate the scraping process, once you have specified which feeds to want to use your blog will be updated when you tell the cron job to run. It will fetch the RSS feed again and publish new any new articles!

For my test I used zac’s blog content so thankyou to Zac you have great content on your site.

But can automated content rank well in the SERP’S before I started this test I thought it would definitely be a no. However this is not what I found out. For example for the post affiliate marketing I managed to rank 1 place behind the original article! This makes me wonder if I altered the title tag how much further would the post be able to rank. Although the terms I ranked for are not that high on the competitive front it will still drive some traffic and if you setup a lot of posts everyday that will equate to quite a bit of traffic. I’m not saying everyone will be able to rank in the same way that I did as Pacdesco.net has got over 10,000 links pointing to it, lot’s of these links coming from high authoritative sites, that’s why I’m currently ranking at position 14 for “make money online” in Google. But it sure is possible.

OK, every blogger out there is writing about this in detail so i’m not even going to bother to write about it directly but instead have a bit of a rant. Everyone who is panicking about if there pagerank on their blog is going to go down stop right now, it’s boring and I don’t want to hear about it. This update in my opinion has had a couple of purposes:

1) Put fear into people by hitting the “big boys” in the industry or authoratitive sites that most people read so the message gets out quickly that they have been hit and they will take your page rank down to. Big whoop even if they do, the sites that have been hit have had no impact in traffic.

2) Prove that page rank is not a metric to judge to help judge a cost of buying a link. It’s not suppost to be for webmasters but more for general surfers to help judge the authority of a page. Page rank has not been updated in 6ish months stop worrying about it.

I think this update has made the authoratitive sites more authoratitive by dropping their page rank. I say this because these people are going to gain a lot of links. Lets face it, it’s a good viral Google has created for them! Most big sites are writing about the sites efected and linking to them. This makes those sites even more desirable to get involved with. As long as your traffic is coming don’t worry. Has anyone heard of anyone that is actually buying links being effected? No I haven’t either, and I know a lot of sites that have bought links and have still maintained positions in he serps.

This update is only going to panic people into either not linking to a site because they think they will get punnished or putting nofollows on everything just to make sure they don’t get a page rank drop. However if this happens then no one is going to show any trust to anyone else by adding no follow, then where will Google’s whole trust rank be. That quite an extreme take but quite possible. I kind of wish I had been given a PR drop now, I might have got some more inbound links. Also I have noticed my rank increase to 13-15 on google.com for make money online. Front page here I come!

Ok, who wants a Lotus elise, or the even more desirable Lotus Exige? I know I do. But what if one was behind you on a nice A-road while you were speeding? That might just happen to you if you live around Sussex! Paul Masterson is the fastest Police man in England with the 140mph sports car which goes from 0-60 in 4.1 seconds!

lotusexige.jpg

Although the Lotus is pretty special it’s not as nice as the Italian Lamborghini Police Car I wrote about earlier on in the year when I saw it in Rome.

The Lotus Exige has been brought in to take on boy racers. I don’t think they need such a fast car to chase them as they usually drive 1.2l Vauxhall corsa’s. It’s going to be used to attract “boy racers” to the car so the police will be able to talk to them about the car and how important it is not to drive like a prat etc etc.

Do I think it will work? Well no not really, I think they will go over to have a look at the car and talk with the Police officers but them rag their car back home taking inspiration for seeing the Lotus. We shall see…….
